I just read two different posts that say that the readers have been "tagged". So, I guess that includes me... As I understand it, I am to write 8 little known facts about myself. My question is this... Why
eight? Who started this and why didn't they say five or ten?
Anyway, I will try to come up with eight things...
1. When I was 16 I went to Europe with my parents. They were going to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary and being the youngest child and the only one living at home, they took me with them. And since most hotels and Bed & Breakfasts places only accommodate two to a room, I had a friend from school go with us.
While were in London, were used the "tube" (underground subway) as a means of transportation. We had been out sightseeing and were on our way back to the B & B we were staying at. My dad wasn't sure which stop was ours until the last minute. My dad, mom and Valerie all managed to jump off the tube in time. As I was about to get off, the door closed in front of me, and the train sped off. I was alone and in a foreign country - at least I spoke the language! I also had no money on me. I actually reminded quite calm and got off at the next stop, got on another train going the opposite direction and made my way back to "Victoria Station". I then found my mom and Valerie. My dad had tried to follow me to the next stop, but obviously I wasn't there. Eventually we all reconnected. My parents were more freaked out about the whole incident than I was. I actually thought it was pretty funny.
2. I have been to a Grateful Dead Concert. Talk about "what a long strange trip it's been..." (lyrics from a song)... most deadheads there were pretty high on something! I however was not! It was quite an interesting place to be. It was fun to see Jerry Garcia live, though. My friends and I had a good time making fun of all the druggies there.
3. I also liked to listen to Guns 'N Roses. Yes, I have quite an eclectic taste in music. I did not however go see Axel Rose live.
4. I was "Christine" in Phantom of the Opera my senior year in high school. Don't worry, it was the play version - not the musical. No singing for me! I would have never got the part if I had to sing!
5. I have been to Haiti twice and Kazakhstan once on missions trips.
6. I like the toothpaste tube to be squeezed from the bottom up. I often have to fix the tube after Dave has used it. (He squeezes from the middle.)
7. Unlike Deb, I have received a speeding ticket. It was back in 1990 in Ventura, CA. I was going about 65, back when the legal limit was only 55. I was driving my dad's beige Isuzu pickup truck that had a blue tarp in the back. A helicopter cop spotted me and relayed the message to a cop on the ground. As soon as the cop came on the on ramp, he pulled me over. I then had to pay a small fine and go to traffic school - this was before they made you pay for the ticket, plus traffic school. The ticket never showed up on my record.
8. I don't like to eat peas, but I like pea soup. I don't like tomatoes, but I like tomato soup. I don't like to eat a plate full of veggies, but I like vegetable soup. I don't like cooked spinach, but I will eat in raw. I don't like onions, but I use them to cook with. Go figure!
