Here is the start of our new house...

Grandma Moses

Before we moved we had a neighbor that Anna loved talking to. She and Mr. Henry had fun joking around. They were being silly on the 4th of July and he started calling her "Grandma Moses". Here is Anna being "Grandma Moses" as we were packing up and moving. Just thought I would share it with you. :-)

I am back among the living!

After being "DSL-less" for 3 weeks, I am back! We just got it today. It feels great to be back!

Emma started 1st grade last week. She loves it! She is so eager do get her homework done as soon as she walks in the door from school. Emma loves academia!

Anna started preschool this week. This was going to be my first couple days of "freedom". I would drop her off and have no responsibilities for a couple of hours. But then I was asked to sub at her school. So I dropped Anna off and went into another classroom and helped out there. It went well, but I am looking forward to next week. I won't be subbing and I can drop her off and leave. Sounds too good to be true. :-)

As far as house updates... we are out of our old house and the new owners are in. It really isn't "ours" anymore. We are settled into the "teeny tiny house" as much as we can be at this point. We are ready for the new place! We had our "pre-construction" appointment last week and they said they could start building this week. That was until it started POURING rain. It has been so dry all summer until this week. What is with that?!? So I am still waiting on the call that says they will pour the foundation.

This waiting period is hard. I am a planner. I want to know exactly when we can move in. Exactly when things will be finished. I am ready to plan, to move in, to decorate, to live life in the new house. I am thankful for the house we are in, but some days the walls seem to get closer. The bathroom seems smaller everyday for the 4 of us to share. The kitchen seems smaller every day too. I know I am spoiled to know life with 3 toilets for 4 people to share, to have had a big kitchen to cook in. I appreciate some of the simplicities to life in this house, but I dream of all the space we can spread out in. I will be dreaming for a few more months at least...

Isolation

I am feeling a little isolated from the world right now. We FINALLY got our phone turned on - after a week of trying. We still don't have DSL yet. They say we are 500 feet too far away. We have called and called on it... we might be able to get it, but it will take another week at least... I think we'll go wireless! I had our mail forwarded, but now we are not getting mail at either the house. So, with no snail mail, no email (or internet) and a new phone number that most people don't know, I am feeling a little isolated!

We are about as settled into our "teeny tiny house" as we are going to be. Our basement is loaded with boxes and tools and other stuff we are not using for the next few months. Life is simpler that way, I guess.

We meet with the construction people tomorrow for our "pre-construction" appointment. After that, they will start building. So far our new lot is marked on all four corners and they have marked where on the lot the house will be. Pretty exciting!

We are also excited because my parents finally sold their house! They will close September 15. They already found a rental and it just about 3 blocks from where we are renting. Once their new house is built, they will be our backyard neighbors! Pretty cool! They girls are really excited about that!

And in other news.... Emma started first grade yesterday. She is loving it. Her teacher seems great. I asked Emma today how school was and she said, "It was GREAT!"

Anna starts preschool next week. She'll go 3 mornings a week. I am looking forward to that. :-) Hopefully I will be able to help out in Emma's class once in a while during that time.

Oh, in case anyone wants to reach me... our old phone number tells you our new phone number. Don't hesitate to call! :-) And until we get internet access, I will periodically check from my parents' house - as I am doing right now.
