The First Snow...

Wouldn't you know it... the first snow of the season fell the day before we move. Now that will make for an interesting move! It won't stop us though. :-)

I had a meeting with the building superintendent this morning... this is really going to happen. We will be the first ones in the whole subdivision to close on our house. Two others will close tomorrow as well, so we won't be all alone out there. Our street still is the only street with water, though. I do feel bad for some other families that have been waiting longer than us! This has got to stink for them!

The girls wanted to go out and make snow angels at 7:30 this morning. I didn't let them though. Mean Mom, huh? It just seemed too cold and early to be playing outside. It is a great day for staying indoors, drinking hot cocoa and PACKING!!!

So They Say...

We are told that we can now close this Thursday. I am very excited, yet I am also a tad bit leery of believing it. They have said we will close a couple of times before and then we didn't. I am not sure exactly what the issue was with the water, but I do know that as of today, our street was the only one with water at all. They must have to do some digging to fix it, because there is a hole in our front yard. What ever the problem was, I guess they fixed it for our street at least. Now they just need to fix it for the other two streets. Anyway, we get to move in just a few days. You've heard that before, huh? Well, we really can... so they say!

He is safe... but the water isn't...

Today was a bad day for teachers in the MCS system. 58 teachers were given notice that they will not have a job next year. 27 of those teachers are at the elementary level. Dave is safe. They went by seniority and he barely made, but he made it none-the-less. We are thankful for that! Thank you to all who have been praying.

As far as moving goes, the home site failed another water test today. We still don't have a move-in date. They will have to pass the water test twice before we can get the ok to close on the house. It is hard to not even have a date to look forward to. It could be next week, or it could be the next, or later. It all hinges on the water and what they will have to do to pass. I am praying the problem is not underground and that they won't have to dig up roads and water pipes to find the problem. I don't even know if that is a possibility... I just don't want it to be the "worst case scenario", since that is all we have had so far.

It hit me tonight that tomorrow is December 1. I made an advent calendar last year that Emma has talked about all year. I had planned to have it up on December 1 to begin our countdown until Christmas. I don't want to miss out on that this year. I guess I will be digging in some boxes in the basement looking for it...

Please keep praying for us! I know that eventually we will be in the house and this will all be a faint memory. But for now, at this moment, this is hard.

Where I wish I was tonight...

Where I actually am...
